Honoring My Mama

To my Lola, Aunt Lolita, Aunt Purita, Aunt Cookie, Aunt Grace, Aunt Ligaya, Aunt Grace, Aunt Josephine, Aunt Susan, Aunt Blessila, my cousin Gladys, Ate Che and Jingle, and most especially to my Mama: Happy, happy, happy, happy, happy, happy, happy Mother's day!

Ma, you are the best Mama ever! Thank you for the things you have done. I, together with my brother and sister, knew it was for our good. Thank you for the discipline. This proves that you really love us so much for you don't want us to be fools but be wise. Thank you for the care for health and comfort, for the support in every good thing we do. Thank you for the hugs and kisses. Thank you for the surprises. Thank you for laughing with us every time we find ourselves so funny.

Ma, thank you for being so proud of us- we felt deeply in my heart that we are appreciated and loved.

Your sacrificial love and enduring patience in raising us was priceless. We may not always speak words of appreciation; but we want you to know that you are appreciated and you are dearly loved. We are so proud of you Mom. We will be forever thankful to the LORD for orchestrating our lives: that you became our Mom and we became your children.

We know we can never repay you in any form or amount. But this is certain: we will enjoy serving you back for it is a privilege and honor. Honoring you Mama is what I ought to do as God’s child. The Scripture says:

Exodus 20:12 (The Message)
Honor your father and mother so that you'll live a long time in the land that God, your God, is giving you.

Ephesians 6:1 (New Living Translation)
Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do.
