An Open Letter to His Holiness Pope Francis

His Holiness
Pope Francis
Apostolic Palace
Vatican City

Dear Most Holy Father:

On behalf of my family, I'm writing this letter to bring up to your office the inconsistency of this Catholic-operated institution called House of Hope Foundation Incorporated, which is located in Upper Palalan, Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro City, Region X, Philippines.

What I mean about inconsistency is their action as organization is incongruent with its mission that is to render quality psychiatric care that is safe and secure to all clients...to serve God in and through the mentally challenge residents and their family.

This is what they did. They told us that they will release my uncle, Mr. Garciano Abecia, who was confined in the facility around November 2016. And if we won't get him from them they threatened us to release him and let him wander in the streets.

We are deeply saddened by their decision to release him even he has not yet fully regained his sanity. In the first place we brought him there because they have the capacity to help, and according to their mission statement they're committing themselves to render such service. We believe that aside from the facility at their disposal they also have specialized skill to help my uncle.

We are trying to reach your office so that your office will know that we are seeking for help and we're not abandoning our responsibility toward our unmarried uncle. In fact we're doing our best to provide the money, though not the full amount, so the foundation could administer medicine to him. We may have failed paying the full amount that the foundation is demanding but rest assured we are working out to make up for our shortcomings. We are appealing to your office for help.

We hope you to hear from you soon.

God bless you!

Yours truly,

Earlbert Abecia
